About the Property
Israel Hall built a typically Midwestern greek revival brick mansion in about 1867 on a large lot on an East Davenport bluff near the point where the historic
peace treaty was signed ending the "Blackhawk Wars" in the 1830's. In the 1880's, the house was added on to (the north room in each apartment) and
transferred to Hall's daughter and son-in-law (Whitaker, hence our name), who lived there until the 1930's. In 1949, like so many other large homes, due to the
pressures for housing after the Second World War, the magnificent lot was split into three parcels - where the original house stands, where the small modern
house sits to the west, and the brick multiplex to the east, and the home became a fourplex.
Located in the Prospect Park Historic District on a quiet residential brick paved street. Conveniently located to most everywhere in the Quads within 10-20
minutes. It's just 8-10 minutes to Elmore & 53rd. This area has been extensively renovated during the past few years and continues to be actively sought after
as the best historic neighborhood in the Quad-Cities.
